I see Xemodex charges $450 to repair your DIM or $550 for a replacement. I assume there’s a core fee for the replacement?? Years ago the DIM in my 2003 V70 went wonky but I was able to procure a compatible replacement, from a well known Volvo wrecking yard that is no longer in business, for about $125. Today the equivalent wrecking yard would be Erie Volvo parts. But in order for them to provide you with a compatible unit you would need to pull your old one out and give them the code numbers on the backside.
Whatever you do, don’t turn the ignition on while the DIM is removed or you will set an SRS fault code that can be a nuisance to have reset.
