Temp spare @#*%!!! V70-XC70 2015

Spare wheel is OE. And the difference in material thickness is certainly true.

The bolts only go so far sans wheel. However, in a lifetime of auto repair I have broken, stripped or otherwise ruined so many fasteners by applying too much force that I am somewhat reluctant to try it here. I did not want that to happen in the wheel hub.

I am beginning to think I am exercising too much caution. But this is an area where I really want to be sure. Cleaning the threads is a good idea. It may be that simple.

Today I just got into a lather over this because I needed the car, my only transportation at the moment, and I find the tire had gone completely flat since last driving it on Monday. It pretty much ruined my afternoon. I will examine the hub tomorrow when I have calmed down. I think the problem may be me and not the car.
