Jim,
Thank you for your detailed and informative reply. You are right, I am confusing "warranties vs. insurance contracts". From what I have learned, some Volvo dealers who promote more aggressively (in my opinion) the
insurance contracts over the extended warranties of Volvo, do so because they have had a long term and amicable relationship with these 3rd Party Insurance Companies. Some dealers have told me they stay away from them, not out loyalty to Volvo, but because they find when they go to process a claim there are all sorts of loopholes that provide the insurance carrier a basis to deny the claim. This alienates the customer and causes frustration that damages the dealer-customer relationship, especially if this was 3rd Party Insurance Company promoted by the Volvo dealership.
Jim if you feel comfortable doing so, I would appreciate knowing the names of 3rd Party Insurance Carriers that you have had a positive experience with on your various cars.
Thank you again for your reply above. It was very helpful.
