One of the dash computers is a CAN/BUS which controls all communication between the computers. It is a known problem as its can overheat. Hard to diagnose.
Another problem with the ETM: dirt. It needs to be removed and the throttle body cleaned, along with the pedal position sensor portion. Check the plug connectors for corrosion as well.
"Limp mode" without an error message is quite rare. There should at least be a warning shown in the left side of the instrument cluster. You might want to scroll through the messages.
Do all of the instrument cluster warning lights work when you turn the key to position II, before starting the engine?
