Your son needs to locate some Pick&pull salvage yards. Their prices are usually very cheap, especially if he can find a V/XC70 in the same color. The doors are easily replaced: unplug the electrics in the B pillar, remove the T40 connector for the door stop, loosen 2 set screws in the hinge, and lift off.

Most yards have an online site, listing year, model, and color.
