I've made this problem disappear in 3 Volvos which used the H7 low beam bulbs. You didn't specify.
The plugs are incredibly cheap. The connection is a female spade connector. Some people call it a Stake-On (old brand name). The bulb has the males. The female part loosens and you get heat and shorter bulb life.
I suggest you crack away the thin plastic plug body and give the rolled metal of the female connectors a squeeze with pliers so they grab the male blade more securely. I always add a touch of dielectric grease to reduce resistance.
The structure of the female connector will keep them separated. They will not short out.
I was so happy to cure this ill but still bugged by the number of bulbs I went through before it came to me.
Fixing my neighbor's headlights ('05 S60) made me feel better. I'm glad her boyfriend mentioned that the car ate low beam bulbs.
Hope this helps
