I bought a cheap pair of pneumatic cylinders that support the XC90 hatch. The hatch motion was jerky - not smooth like the factory cylinders. As a result, one of the pivots on the hatch end of the cylinder pulled out of the hatch. The pivot looks like a wood screw with a ball where the cylinder attaches. It threads into a material that looks like plastic in the hatch. Well, that plastic stropped out.
I tried the following to fix it, none of which worked:
* Wrapping various materials (electrical tape, etc.) around the "wood screw" part and threading it back into the hole.
* Packing the hole with construction adhesive and reinserting the pivot.
*Filling the hole with fiberglass, drilling a small hole in it and threading in the pivot.
Has anyone else seen this problem (and found a solution)?
Thanks in advance.
