CBV replacement in '96 850 T 850

Hello

The last time I was in contact with the Board I had purchased a Compressor Bypass Valve from
IPD as was recommended and when I finally got the cover off (putting it on a lift for the last bolt
cost me as much as the valve) the diaphragm had a puncture in it as you suggested it might.
So reassembled with the new CBV and replaced the hose running from the manifold to the CBV… but the hose that was used as a replacement is a smaller diameter hose (inside) than the one I took off…not metric… that’s what they had on hand.

Afterwards… When I took the car out I did not get proper boost… the turbo meter dips into the turbo zone but never FEELS like it is grabbing turbo power. Yesterday I took the hose back off the manifold and sucked on it…there is a vacuum and therefore the CBV is sealed properly. The CBV kit that I purchased had 3 different springs for different turbo output… I chose the intermediate one so it is a stiffer spring (I believe) than the factory one.
My question to you is this… is it possible that the smaller diameter hose is not allowing enough pressure to come through the line to fully “activate” the CBV? Or would that not make any difference whatsoever?

Once I had no turbo, then found the problem and fixed it, then the CBV popped a hole and crapped out.. and now it is repaired but getting only a hint of boost.
And the only difference is the spring and hose.
It’s much more fun in an 850 when the turbo is working... right.

Any thoughts? Is my suspicion warranted? Or Bollocks?
