In the UK, my Jan 2000 V40 (manual gearbox) had a recall in July 2000 for "an ECU software upgrade to improve low speed running and to stop the risk of the dual-mass engine flywheel being damaged".

This meant the ignition timing at very low RPM has been retarded a bit to smooth the engine out. It didn't affect performance at all, but it did make the car a little easier to drive in slow heavy traffic. Before the upgrade it used to be a bit jerky.
