My 1995 855T is under going a brake restoration. The parking brakes don't work and the left rear caliper froze up. No big deal, the parking cable froze up for the left rear, been there done that.
Except.
The PO had someone remove all of the parking brake shoes and springs. Probably didn't want to spend $20 for new shoes. The expander is 2 metal parts, that get rusty, and one of them is now missing. So I wait for the new expander parts.
But this post is about rust and Torx.
HOW IN THE HECK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO UNSCREW A TORX THAT IS RUSTED??? It is impossible to know the actual size, T25 or T27? The screw is rusted to the frame and has become one with it. The screw I have in mind is the one that holds the Ebrake line to the body by the rear seat.
Did the designers know that we cannot get a Torx driver on the head of the screw? Perhaps if I had a Torx driver in the shape of an allen wrench, that would fit.
I had to hack saw it off, that was after soaking in PB Blaster for a week. The screw that is 'protected' by the plastic donut on the brake cable was half of it's original size, all eaten away by rust. Now I have to file off the remaining piece of metal so it wont get in the way when I drill a new hole about 1/2 inch down, and use a BOLT and NUT. After painting the frame a little to keep the rust down.
