93 transmissions and timing belt 850

Speaking of transmissions..

The 1993's are by far the worst year for 850 transmissions. If it were my car, the first thing I'd do is manually flush the tranny and replace the fluid with synthetic ATF. Wish I'd done that with my 93...:) Did get 1 /1/2 years out of it of relatively trouble-free motoring for $1500. Hope I don't jinx myself, did the flush/switch to synthetic ATF on the tranny in my 95 and it has been absolutely bulletproof. Very happy with it, still working well at 250kish with no leaks like the tranny in my 240.

Any timing belt stickers under the hood? If not, then I change my mind and advise you change the belt, tensioner, rollers first. If the car is anywhere near 200k do the water pump too.

Good luck with the car, the price is certainly right!
