Strange Electrical Weirdness S70 1998

I was at the BMW dealer the other day (looking at new cars as you might have guessed) and when I returned to my S70 to leave I noticed the burned out bulb indicator on my dash was lit. Minorly annoyed I returned home to determine which bulb needed to be replaced. Looking around the car I disco vered it was the front passengers side low beam headlamp. I did not have one of these on hand (I have a good supply of rear brake lamp bulbs in the trunk due to the high amount of replacment they get). I have not replaced the lamp yet due to some funky activity that I am getting from the car.

Here is what it does.

1. When locking the doors with keyless entry (I dont have the alarm system) the headlights and foglamps also flash with the marker lamps (the markerlamps only flashed before). This happens in both the headlight on switch position and the off position. When the headlights are in the off position only the other headlight flashes with the markerlamps (the foglamps stay off)

2. When the headlights are off and the brake is depressed turn signals will cause the bulb out lamp to light on the dash. This only happens on the right hand side. If you start on the left hand side the lamp does not flash. If you go from right to left the lamp will flash but at a faster rate on the dash.

I am wondering if this is the normal activity of the vehicle when the headlamp is out or if its possible that my headlamp is not really burned out and I have serious electrical problems.

I have had the Turn Signal Recall done recently and I have had no other electrical problems with the vehicle (other than its voracious appetite for brake lamp bulbs)

Thanks for your input....
