Power Steering Pump Replacement Question 850 1995

Tried to use stethoscope, touching the body of the pump while car was idling. Couldn't tell any difference. Noise from pump was similar to alternator. I couldn't touch the tensioner pulley nor the idler pulley due to running engine. I may need to loosen the Serp. belt and check these 2 pulleys as well.
