I did just what Klaus said on the 97 when I bought it a couple years back. WP was fine, still is, tensioner was the black pull the pin hand grenade type, slowly compress it in a vise, giving is a turn every minute or so, while you do something else. What my car needed and unless the owner was on the job this will need the PCV serviced. I just bit the bullet and got the whole kit, it solved the dip stick smoking and oil leaking. Good luck.
