for first time in my life, got to replace a windshield...fine folks at Safelite said couldn't be fixed, as crack starts at an edge...uber cold weather, lots of potholes in Central NY, maybe the Bilstein HDs had a hand in it too..
my choices as I see them...of note, have full glass coverage on car....
1.schedule replacement@Safelite, bill to insurance, they handle paperwork...seems to be the easiest, with a warranty, but I'm looking to avoid el-cheapo pacific rim sourced windshield if at all possible..
2. spend stupid amounts of $$ at dealer, get an OEM(Pilkington I believe) replacement, if even available, and find someone to install...likely w/o any warranty..
3. get a used one, OEM and readily available, get it home/to shop, and have it installed , again likely w/o any warranty...
never had to deal with this, and seek any and all wisdom...
on another note, what about inspection/registration stickers? does installer re-use? get new? or is it all on me? inquiring minds want to know..
