Re: Seat memory function V70-XC70 2001

Hi Steve -

I had the same problem, exactly. I'm told that you MUST unlock the car with the remote so the computer is alert that you might change the seat. If you leave the car unlocked in the garage (and who doesn't?) then when you go to start it the next time, the computer isn't watching out for a seat adjustment. So the next time you do lock/unlock with the remote, it will remember the last time you did that, not the last time you moved the seat. It's all very confusing, and it doesn't work that way in real life, I've found.

There is a setting procedure that I got from a Field Service Tech, and it seems to have fixed my problem, for some unkown reason. Give this a shot. The following are his words, not mine:

-Begin the test with the car in the LOCKED position (locked for at least 1 minute).

REMOTE 1:

1-Unlock car with remote and open the driver’s door. (By unlocking the car

with the remote, CEM will be alert to record any changes to seat position

before step 4).

2-Turn Ignition to position II.

3-Adjust Driver’s seat to desired position.

4-Turn ignition to position “0” and take key out. (This is the step in which

the actual programming takes place.)

5-From outside, LOCK car with REMOTE 1.

6-WAIT 1 MINUTE before setting next remote.

REMOTE 2:

Follow the same procedure as above, now with REMOTE 2.

If you have a third remote, follow the same procedure with R/3

It’s very important to wait 1 MINUTE in between settings

TESTING REMOTES AFTER SETTINGS:

-REMOTE 1: Unlock car with remote and open the driver’s door, the seat will

move to preset position R1. After test, lock car with the same remote.

-REMOTES 2 and/or 3: Do the same as above for these remotes as needed.

SUMMARY:

When unlocking the car with any of the remotes and the seat is adjusted

manually or with seat memory buttons while the key is in the position II;

the CEM will memorize the last position that the seat was moved to, provided

that the ignition was turned to “0” and out of the ignition and the required

elapsed time has gone by. The next time this remote is use to unlock the

car, CEM will send a message to PSM to move seat to the memorized position.

The system is base in a logical sequence of events and works fine in the

real world situations (i.e. Husband and wife driving with 2 different

remotes.)

Good luck,

Darell
