You might actually want to take the button unit out the door and take it apart. Mine started acting up and I removed it, took it apart and sprayed compressed air on everything. I took a look at all the contacts and then tested it in the door without putting it back together. Once I knew it worked once again, I put it all back together and I haven't had a problem since. Believe me there was a lot of crap in there when I took it apart and cleaning seemed to have fixed whatever the problem was.
