1998 FWD 70-series, B5234, T5 Engine, 221K. Recent new engine gaskets (including head gasket), replaced vacuum tree, elbows, TCV, plus many vacuum lines with new or silicone.
However, since it got colder (and since I replaced by serpentine belt) the car has a vibration at idle. It was barely noticeable when it was warm, but it has gotten kinda bad now that it's begun to cool off. ...bad to the point I'm concerned that something new is going wrong.
It's not so noticeable in park, but idling in gear is pretty bad.
My mileage is down too. Interstate mileage barely tops 28 mph. I used to coast up into the 40s.
I've checked for vacuum leaks. Most of the vacuum lines have been replaced with silicone, all the elbows were replaced with the IPD kit.
I'm planning to do my timing belt either tomorrow or over the weekend and am wondering if I should be looking for some other issue.
Could I be a tooth off on the timing belt and have these symptoms?
Could it simply be a worn tensioner on the serp belt?
