DCS? What's that, a VIN check to see if my car was effected?

Question: I bought the car used, so can they tell by looking if the car has already been "fixed"?

What's the symptoms of this problem? Can someone explain what the fix actually is?

Thanks.

PS I don't think anything is wrong with my car now, but at 49,000 miles, I'm very concerned about warranty items being caught now!
