Fualty Window Switch Work Around? V70-XC70 1999

The master window switch on my 99 V70 failed. The 2 front window switches do not let the window go down. I took it apart and cleaned it out. It was very nasty in there, and I made it clean and shiny, but still it did not work. I could see there was wear on the orange plastic piece in the switch that the metal controler rod sits in. I am checking to see who has figured out a work around to keep the same switch instead of spending $50 on a used one or $100 for an aftermarket one. I fugure there a 3 options. First, maybe the plugs could be reversed? I realize I wouldnt have functioning rear windows, but I can live with that. I know that there is a block in the connector to prevent the switch from being setup this way but I could remove that, but does anyone know if there is an electrical reason why these connectors couldnt be switched? The next option would be to come up with a shim to let the metal controller rod in the switch again push harder. I am not sure if this would work, but?? The third option would be to run 'jumper' wires from the rear switches to the front. Again, I dont know about the electrical ramifications of doing this. Both driver side windows would go at once, but again, I can live with that. My concern is if the window motor power goes through the switch this could cause issues. I know most of you will say just buy a new switch, and I probably/eventually will, but I like to do a little experimenting, and I am Sure there are other Volvo guys out there who think the same way.
