Rich:

I always suspected that those 9V battery "code keepers" would

not work for the very reason you cited. The minute you open the door there are lights on, and there is the computer with unknown drain.

Also the socket may not be connected to the electrical system when the key is off. Turning the key on brings in other drains.

I just keep the code handy.
