Being that the blower motor is noisy (not inop), I'd just replace the motor only for now. Your car should have ECC and that resistor costs about $110 (not cheap) so why spend the cash if it's still working?
When those resistors start to fail, the blower motor will just stop blowing intermittantly and usually start up again if the car is shut off and restarted. I saw a few of those last summer and neither had anything to do with a noisy blower motor. I don't ever routinely replace both parts at once unless they're both bad at the same time (rare).
