Keep the basic car basic V70-XC70 1998

Of course the options sound nice, but they are prone to failure. Cloth seats don't really need butt warms, leather seats require them. The trip computer is nice, but I seldom use anything but the outside temperature which comes on the base model. Average MPG setting is fun, but more accurate when you fill up the car and figure it out manually.

A remote is only needed when you have small children and don't want to leave them standing on the curb while you unlock the driver's door. Probably the worst idea was Volvo removing the key from the passenger door handle.

Traction control only works up to 25 mph, then it turns off. At slow speeds, you really don't get much with the option unless you are driving in snow with full throttle in 1st gear.

You will find the fog lights do absolutely nothing. They are not bright enough to enhance visibility with your low beams on. Just pure window dressing, and they do not turn on unless you have the headlights on. After about 30K miles, the road grime will pit the lenses, making them worthless.

Keep your 'simple' car and enjoy not having to bring it to a dealer. When you are ready for a full blown optioned car, look around for a 2003/4 V70 T5.
