Do the dome lights slowly fade out after closing the door? The relay that controls that also controls the central locking. So, if the lights turn off immediately when closing the door, then the relay could be suspect. The relay is under the dash above your left foot.

BYW, spray some liquid graphite into the tailgate key hole. Mine no longer works, probably due to salt. I suspect the lack of using a key allowed the pins to get stuck.
