Surging 850

I have a '95 850 GLT 5 speed with 96000 miles that is surging slightly at low speeds, around 1500 to 2000 RPM. I ran a self diagnostic and got 1-1-1, or no faults. I remember that on the older Bosch FI systems claning the mass air sensor was done occasionally, especially on the BMWs. Is this still good advice, and if so how should I go about it? I am still running the original oxygen sensor, by the way.
Thanks.
