C70 RACK CRACKING NOISE C70 2001

Hi Guys, we have a 01 C70, and we have been plagued by a clicking/cracking noise in the front end when turning the wheel for parking. I have managed to get under the car and established that the rack is making the cracking noise, somewhere near the centre. Is it time for a new rack?
