First, check your battery terminals for corrosion and tightness. If you have a multimeter, check the alternator output when the engine is running or the battery voltage when it won't start.
You could also have a problem with loose wiring at the starter. Just be careful because the starter wire is always 'hot' and looking for a ground which could be your fingers or wrench!!
The vacuum gauge is mechanical. Check the length of the line that goes from the gauge to the left fenderwell to the vacuum tree.
