ANSWER '97 engine in a '94? 850

I like the idea of moving the MT to the 97, depending on the damage. The ECU will be a minor problem because of the switch and the 94 ECU will not work on the 97 because of the wiring differences. A lot of work.

Moving the block and head to the 94 should not be a problem, all of the electrics remain the same for the most part. Fuel lines moved around, but that is easy to fix.

The doors will swap, but the 97 has different bump strips. The panels will go into the 94 without a problem.

The seats on the 97 have side airbags, the 94 does not. Other than that, remove and replace.

Having a 97 as a donor car is a good idea, better radio, etc.
