Called my service advisor today and he said they are putting a new gear positioning sensor in my car.
For those that didn't read my earlier post about my shift problem... here it is:
My car would not upshift after cold start and it would stuck in the "limp" (winter) mode under cold weather. Everyone on the message board think I have a bad PNP switch but my dealer said it's a hydraulic problem in the transmission and the whole transmission needs to be replaced. When the rep from my extended warranty came out to inspect the car yesterday, the car was stuck in the limp mode again. They reset the computer and the car was up-shifting fine but that's probably because the car has warmed up by then.
Bottom line, the extended warranty company wants my dealer to replace the gear positioning sensor and not the whole transmission. I spoke with my service advisor this morning and he said they would replace the sensor and let it sit for a day and start the car the next morning to see if there is still a shifting problem. If so, he will call the extended warranty company rep out again.
Later,
Kenneth
