Mine had this exact problem and I was able to fix it. I was scared about breaking the mirror, but nothing bad happened. Here's the fix:
First move the mirror all the way to the left or right. Insert a small screwdriver behind the mirror and pry off the rubber holders that grip the nipples on the back of the mirror. By carefully working them one by one, the mirror will come off. Don't drop it. With the mirror off you will see how to re-connect the motor to the bracket so that it moves in all directions. Then simply press the mirror back in place.
