Re: Intercooler RELOCATION? 850 96R

For about $1000 US, you could have a high capacity front mount installed. It will have to be a custom affair. Part of the plastic bumper and part of the structural bumper will have to be removed.

It will give gains. $1000 worth of gains, is up to you to decide. My opinion, don't bother unless you are doing a turbo upgrade as well. A complete turbo upgrade with front mount intercooler will probably run you about $3000-4000 from start to finish. However, you would be able to produce about 400hp and 400ft.lbs of torque, no problem.

Don't bother trying to relocate the stock intercooler. It's shape and design would make it nearly impossible. You are better off running some water injection externally, onto the surface of the intercooler. Much cheaper, and works just as well. About the only drawback is refilling the water tank every now and then, and shortened lifespan of the intercooler. But I wouldn't worry about the intercooler. It'lls still outlast other components like the engine and tranny and body.
