Thanks Long-Gone,
I replaced mine with a used part that I got a two year warentee with. I tried geting a remaned one from Garo Steering in Miami but they couldn't seem to come through. Being that the part is hard to find for a 99 I had to take what I could get.
Your explanation on how to do the job would have been very helpful but I didn't see it until after doing the job. I'm sure it took you 3 days by yourself as it took my mechanic and myself 7.5 hours of non stop work to get it done. I fortuntly have a working Vadis program which was helpful though we didn't follow the instructions to a tee. The key was to get the rear of the rack droped by 3.5 inches which gave us the room we needed.
For those people that may want to know the answer to how to tell if you have variable assit or not, if you have it you will have a wire coming from the rack close to the steering knukle. I'm not sure if the racks are interchangable, someone else would need to answer that but I doubt they are!
If you try this job be sure you have the tools, time, knowledge and patience to complete the job. It's a pain in the butt!
