here are two tips that you want to give a try:
The University of Texas has a tremendous department called "Advertising Research Resource Center". They have a publication called ADVERTISING AGE and on 11/12/90 there was an article written by Raymond Serafin & Gary Levin titled "Ad Industry Suffers Crushing Blow". That article was on p.1
Lastly, there is an ad agency called GOWLING LAFLEUR HENDERSON LLP. On July 20, 1998 they published a report "There is a fine line between enhancement and deceit". Their publication is called STRATEGY MAGAZINE.
