Hello Rich,
I just spent about $1K on having my indie and me service my sister-in-law's car at 105K.
The one thing he couldn't do was fix the wacky operating instrument cluster, so she got a quote from Volvo for $1100 to replace the DIM. I'm not sure whether this included labor, but it sure get's my goat to think that this faulty part can't be repaired, only replaced - and only at a Volvo "authorized" service center.
I told her to call around and maybe work one Volvo dealer against the other to try to get the price down. If you have gotten the part number, maybe we could check the price at Tasca Volvo because they discount original parts to something somewhat sane.
I hate theivery.
