Thank you all for your suggestions. Looks like a trip to the dealer to get the latch fixed. This is my first European car and I hope this is not the beginning of a budding relationship with the service department. Love the way the Volvo looks and drives, but I have just a tinge of uneasiness after having migrated from the ol' reliable Acura camp.
