O2 sensors S80 2001

I have a check engine code regarding bad O2 sensor. I know there are two on the exhaust header and I think one at the rear on the exhaust pipe behind the catalytic converter. My question is : Can I use Bosch universal O2 sensors, rather than the exact fit sensor? I have heard others say that an O2 sensor is generic and does not have to be from the dealer.
