random miss at idle fixed, cut out at hard acceleration fixed. V70-XC70 2001

Hello all,

I have been trying to fix to problems on our 2001 V70 T5. I finally fixed them and wanted to post this info for others.

1. The engine developed a random slight miss at idle. It might do it every day, then it might go days running perfect. No CEL came on. If you kept you foot on the pedal and added about 100 rpm to the idle, it would go away. After 3~4 months, it was getting more consistent and developed a miss on the highway when using cruise and pulling a fairly steep hill. If you came off cruise and gave it a little less throttle, it would run smooth. Again, no CEL. Finaly, it threw a code while my wife was driving last week. Misfire #1. I ordered 2 coil packs. Replace #1 and car ran perfect!! Momma is happy, I am happy!

2. During WOT acceleration, around 4500 RPM and about 50 MPH, the car would act as it quit! Arrows on the dash would start flashing and as the car slowed and I took my foot off the pedal, it would recover, run normal and the dash arrows stopped flashing. It would only do this under WOT. Thought it may have been related to the above, but when I changed the coil pack, I replaced the fuel filter. Now, zero to 80 and the only thing cutting out is my heart beat. This car is a blast to drive! I assume it was the fuel filter. It was the orginal one and the car has 120K miles on it. (We purchased the car about 8 months ago.

Hope this will be of some help!
