talk about bad luck ... 850 1995

A compression test is always good to do, make sure the engine is warm so the rings have been oiled.

Other things to check before doing head gasket work:

Check the radiator fittings for leaks when the antifreeze is hot and pressurized.
Check the cap and the small hose attached to the overflow bottle. Use a paper towel to wipe the bottoms of both.
Check the 2 hoses that go to the firewall from the block that service the heater core.
Check the heater core, of course.

Head removal is the oppertunity to inspect/replace the valve guides. This is a most difficult procedure, so do not bother to get a larger turbo to complicate the procedure, ditto in down pipe and chip. The engine needs to get to Stage 0 before adding any HP modifications.

Yes, with the head removed, replace the oil sepatator box and breather lines. Replace vacuum lines and elbows that attach to the intake manifold. Clean the throttle body and the Intercooler piping, replace the Tbelt and Sbelt, cam seals, etc.

Take lots of "before" pics so you know where things go when putting it back.
This is a very difficult and time consuming job. You will need more than just a torque wrench. Oh, cover both fenders to keep off the belt buckle scratches.
