Lift the coolant tank from its bracket and place it upside-down on top of the motor. At the hardware store, get a square nut measuring 3/4 inch across the flats,a 1 inch long bolt to screw into it,and a flat washer with a OD about 1 inch.Assemble this and use it to retract the tensioner.
After pinning the tensioner, remove the two bolts and the tensioner. This would be a good time to inspect or replace the timing belt and its two bearings.
I replaced both belts and all 4 bearings on one of my cars and still had a chirpy, light grinding noise. It was the alternator. The ps pump had to be unfastened along with its bracket for that one,but not for the tensioner.
