04 V70 Rear Wiper and Central Locking Problem

The darn tailgate. Try this: open the hatch and lock it so that it clicks twice. See if the warning light turns off. If not, then the switch in the lock is broken.
If the light goes off, use the remote to lock the car. Everything should work. Unlocking should also work.

If it all works, move the catch in the rear bumper rearwards about 1/8 inch. This will allow the latch to work the way it is supposed to. The catch is held down with two T40 screws.
