Instead of relying on electrics to do everything, have you tried to just push the button down to lock the door and then unlock it with the inside door handle? If you do this about a half dozen times, it should get rid of the oxidation on the aluminum rod.
Otherwise, you will have to open up parts of the door to lube the connecting rod.
