That procedure will indeed reset your radio. Turn the key to pos I, make sure the radio is 'on' ('Off' should show on the LCD screen) and make sure the lights are turned off so your battery doesn't get too beat up. I think it needs to sit like this for 2 hours. Then you can try your code again. You get 3 tries - if you don't put in the right code before the 3rd try it will lock again and you will need to repeat this whole thing over.


You really should look into flushing the fluid in your trans. I was really surprised at what terrible shape the fluid in my 98's trans was when I picked it up recently. It was basically black, and it didn't smell good at all. It's actually working better since the flush and I'm going to flush again in the spring for good measure. It's really not hard to do. I agree with KlausC's recommendation not to open the sump - just take the hose off the radiator and let the trans pump push it out for you. You will be able to find instructions on how to do this in a few different places. www.volvospeed.com would be the first place I'd send you, though he recommends using a flushing machine which I think is uneccessary.
