Fuel gauge wrong V70-XC70 2001

I can't explain why your computer would read correctly while the gauge doesn't but I had an erratic gauge on my 95 850. I pulled out the fuel level sensor, cleaned it off carefully and reinstalled it. There was visible dirt. After that the gauge worked much better and I was satisfied given the repair was accomplished at no cost.
