Don't even sweat getting a code or two. You can always disconnect the battery for a minute or two to clear them or stop by an autoparts store to clear them.
These engines really don't need a baseline check. It is either going to be good or you will have one cyl down that will give you a misfire code soon enough.
You could pull the CPSensor wire which will turn off the spark and result in only one code. The code should go away after the CPS is plugged back in.
If you really want to work on your car and it is not giving you any problems, investigate how to put 2 small lights in the engine bay that are only on when the hood is up. Then post back with pics :)
