solution! V70-XC70 1999

Dave,

You were right on with the fuse suggestion. It didn't occur to me until later, but I found that number #4 was blown, which is for the ignition coil. So I started digging around and found that some of the wire insulation had rubbed off under the coil cover, and one of the wires had actually shorted, blowing the fuse!

For now I've put insulation around all the cracked and rubbed off stuff I could find, replaced the fuse, and the car works fine now. Easy fix!

The real question is, should I leave my ad-hoc fix, or replace some of these parts just to be safe, and if so, which parts?

Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions. I thought I had left typical Volvo wiring problems behind me with the 240 series, but apparently not!
