Lock Replacement S70

It has been a while, so memory is a bit foggy, but I seem to recall doing precisely what Bay 13 instructed me to do regarding the cable. The cable did not seem to be difficult to remove or reinstall, so I used the new one which came with the new lock. As your lock is refurbished, you will have to decide which cable looks better ... your existing one or the refurbished one.

Note the instruction, "Release the automatic door lock connector." I seem to recall that the connector is a metallic rod which is attached to the white plastic fitting on the lock at one end and the pull-up door lock button at the other. This is one of those attachements which you should gaze at for some period of time prior to removal, so you will remember which way it goes during reinstallation. If possible, a digital image of the "before removal" condition may be helpful.

As for removal of the lock assembly, the only "trick" I can recommend is infinitely calm patience borne of the knowledge that it WILL come out. It is like a child's puzzle: you have to twist it in just the right way in just the right plane, while standing on one foot and whistling "God Save The Queen".

Go slow; stay cool.
