removing check engine light bulb 850 1996

While cross breeding my "96" 850 to run with an engine from "98" I eliminated my EGR system, now I am experiencing a check engine light and the code reads 413
( EGR temp sensor signal incorrect or missing,in my case missing)the code doesn't bother me,the car runs great.the check engine light bugs the crap out of me,can I eliminate the bulb as long as I remember to check my codes periodically? Will any mechanical or electrical problems occur as a direct result of removing the bulb?I do not live in an area that requires vehicle inspections, although I am thinking about sticking a CO meter up its pipe just to make sure I'm not polluting. Thanks for any help.
