Yesterday I visited some friends who like myself spend much mental effort into spinning out the usfull life of all types of machinery often at great personal cost.

I told them how my failing fuel sender unit had produced a breakdown and how I had posted the event here.

I asked them what they knew about jerry can history,and various ideas,points and inaccuracies were asserted.

We discussed how jerrys and Tommys had been so named,listend to silently by eight and a half years old Rosanna. At a slight pause in the informed debate,Rosanna with perfect timing said "I thought you were going to say that they were called after TOM and JERRY because they were allways fighting all the time"! We all decided that that was the best historical "fact" we had ever heard, and we decided that Rosannas poetic insight should be recorded here.
