Door latch stuck closed--but door is open! S70

I just finished (sort of) installing a replacement used power right front door lock assembly. The button now goes up and down as it should. However, the latch itself is stuck in the closed position so that I can't actually close the door. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to open it up? I need to drive the car to work in the morning so I really need some help here. Thanks!
