ABS Troubleshooting Tip - Add this to your list of things to check! V70-XC70 2000

I have been wrestling with the ABS light for four months on my 00 V70, even after a Victor Rocha rebuild.

I must say that Victor was extremely helpful through this process and recommend him highly for ABS rebuilds.

I found a thread on Volvospeed from 2005 ( http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/lofiversion/index.php/t14980.html ) where two people's experience mirrored mine almost exactly. They both found that their left front axle bolt/screw was missing (this is a $2.50 part at the dealership). This turned out to be my issue as well.

Apparently, between the control arm, the link rod, and the tie rod, there is enough stuff holding the hub and wheel assembly together that it won’t just fall off without the screw – but it won’t hold it tightly together enough to keep the gap between the wheel sensor and the pulse wheel at the required spacing.

I hope this helps someone. If you've had the same issue, I'd love to know how common a problem it is that this thing just comes off and is lost.
